Human Still Need Physical Contact

The affair through the medium of the Internet even sexting - sending short messages (SMS) or a sexually-charged photo via e-mail or phone - can not replace the sensation of physical contact such as touch and face to face. The findings are published online in Springer's journal, Sexuality and Culture.
Kholos Diane Wysocki of the University of Nebraska at Kearney and Cheryl Childres from Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas, conducted a survey on how people use the internet to find sexual partners. The survey which was placed on a special web site for married couples who seek sexual partners outside marriage is also aimed to investigate the activity of sexting and infidelity in the network.
During the last survey, a total of 5187 adults participated in answering questions about Internet usage, sexual behaviors, and opinions about sexual behavior on the Internet. The topic of sexting, online infidelity, and infidelity in the real world is very attractive respondents.
The survey results revealed that women are more likely to engage in sexting than men. More than two-thirds of respondents never perform an online infidelity while undergoing a serious relationship, and more than three-quarters had an affair in real life.
In addition, men and women were equally likely to cheat online and in real life when they have a serious relationship in real life. While older men are more likely to cheat in real life than younger men.
Specifically, Kholos Wysocki and Childres finding, respondents were more interested in finding sexual partners or dating couples in real life than in the virtual online world.
Both concluded, "Although more and more people use social networking sites for social contact, but the appeal against the couple in real life is greater still. At a certain point in a relationship, people still need physical contact and face to face. However, humans remain social creatures".
