A tornado watch has been issued Sunday night for McHenry, Kane, Kendall and Grundy counties, according to the National Weather Service.

About 6 p.m. the watch was issued and it will be in place until 1 am, according to NWS meteorologist David Beachler.

There is still a Possibility that thunderstorms, large hail and damaging winds may move into the Chicago area by about 10 pm, he said.

Beachler said they are monitoring conditions closely and said if a tornado should actually Occur and sirens, activate the safest place to be is in a basement and away from windows or glass, as they could break and flying glass could injure someone.

"Try to get in the lowest point in the building you are in,''said Beachler.

Another tip is to try to be inside interior rooms, examined as a closet or a bathroom or hallway, he said.
